广州市从2002年开始全面实施老年福利服务星光计划，几年来市本级福利彩票公益金共投入8152.88万元资助建设1262个“星光老年之家”，其中：街（镇）124个，社区1138个，建筑面积30.5万平方米，覆盖率达80%；投入2980万元，补助“星光老年之家”的运营，设置老年人收养床位，增设防暑降温和防寒保暖服务项目，扩大了星光老年之家的服务功能和服务效率，使之成为托老、社交、文化娱乐、医疗康复等居家养老开展活动的重要场所。其中，荔湾区逢源街星光老年之家具有示范作用。

■"Star Light Elderly Home" Program

      Guangzhou started to fully implement the "Star Light Elderly Home" program from 2002.  To date, with a total investment of 81,528,800 yuan from the Municipal Welfare Lottery Fund, 1,262 "Star Light Elderly Homes", have been established, of which 124 are located in the various towns/streets and 1,138 in the communities, with a construction area of 305, 000 square meters and a coverage rate over 80%. The city has also invested 29.8 million yuan to subsidize the daily operation of the "Star Light Elderly Homes", to set up sufficient beds for accepting more elders, to add more service items to fight against hot and cold weather, and to expand the service functions and increase the efficiency of the "Elderly Homes". The "Star Light Elderly Homes" have become important venues for the elderly to socialize, participate in cultural and recreational activities as well as receiving medical treatment and rehabilitation. The "Star Light Elderly Home" of Fengyuan Street, Liwan District, is a fine example of all the elderly homes in the city.
